Program: Non-Urgent Transportation

Organization: Good Companions (The)
Description of Services: Provides clients, who can transfer safely and independently into a vehicle, with rides to essential services (doctors appointments, dental, vision, etc) for a reasonable cost

Priority is given to appointments of a medical nature, though sometimes other trips can be accommodated

Drives are matched on a ‘first come, first served’ basis and according to driver availability

All clients requesting transportation are required to undergo an intake and assessment to determine their eligibility, as well as to review the roles and responsibilities of the client, the driver and The Good Companions * Once registered, clients are asked to provide at least one week's notice of appointments

A wheelchair cannot be transported

Fees: Cost varies based on mileage
Eligibility - Population(s) Served: Older adults 55 years and older and adults 18 years and over with disabilities
Application: Call * pre-booking required 7-10 days in advance for existing client, or longer for first-time client
